Hello

Hello

Hello

I am a UX/UI designer in Seattle who previously worked as an elementary special education teacher. As a former teacher of small neurodivergent humans, I learned the importance of simplicity in everyday, human and non-human, interactions and how to synthesize data into user pain points (specifically data without clear-cut insights). I empathized daily to understand users better and see things differently, designed individualized learning plans based on each student's needs, communicated effectively with cross-functional teams to support projects and create positive outcomes, and constantly iterated on my learning designs.

Above all else, those tiny humans taught me to be flexible, collaborate with everyone (you never know who will ignite the spark for your next best idea!), and know when it’s time to regroup and change directions.

Being a designer has proved to be wildly similar to teaching, in the best ways. Through focusing on creating simple and intuitive user-centered designs I get to continue helping people find success.

A portrait a student drew of me. Isn't it uncanny how much it looks like me?!

RESUME

When I'm not working I enjoy

  • Spending time outside – Hiking, camping, or simply going on a walk. I am from the PNW after all.

  • Reading – I’m obsessed with the Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny and always looking for more fun reads.

  • Watching TV – I love a good couch potato moment.

  • Baking – and sharing what I bake!

  • Art – I enjoy drawing/doodling and embroidery. I have recently been trying to learn modern brush calligraphy and trying out watercolors.

  • Going to Seattle sports teams games.

  • My Cats – Tom and Gail. They are named after two of the Top Chef judges. They always want to play (there favorite toys are strips of cardboard 😂) or snuggle, when they're not getting into mischief together!
